Tammy and Glenn Paul were released from the hospital today, and we’re now at home. This is the first night we’ll spend together as a family. It’ll be nice to get back into some sort of routine (even if it does involve late night feedings).
We can’t say enough about the wonderful staff at Ochsner. From the moment we checked into the Labor and Delivery area, we were treated extremely well, and the nurses and doctors were attentive and kind. Obviously, we were anxious and worried during the labor, and they did their best to calm us down and explain everything in detail to put us at ease. And the post-delivery attention was just as good. Glenn Paul spent the nights in the Nursery so Tammy and I could get some sleep, and they checked on Tammy often to ensure she was feeling well and wasn’t in any pain. So a big “Thank You” to the folks at Ochsner.

Tammy will be released from the hospital tomorrow. For the time being, we’re just resting up while Tammy is healing. She is doing well, although she still has some pain, which is to be expected. Glenn Paul is doing very well, and he is eating normally and all other bodily functions are operating as they should. We’re determined for him not to get jaundiced like Megan did, and I think we’re on track to accomplish that goal.
We’ve had many visitors the past couple of days, which has been wonderful. It’s been great to see everyone and for them to meet Glenn Paul.

Well, Tammy went from being 7 cm dilated to 8 cm within an hour, but GPW4 didn’t move down as planned, so around 2:50 the decision was made to do a Caesarean section. Tammy was rolled into the OR and prepped and I was called in when she was ready. At 15:15 (3:15 p.m.) CDT, Glenn Paul Welch IV entered the world! Glenn went to the Nursery with Glenn Paul while Tammy remained in the OR to be stitched up.
Around 5:45 p.m., we all met up again in the labor room, and Megan and both Tammy’s and Glenn’s family finally got to meet Glenn Paul, and Tammy got to hold him for the first time.
Needless to say, Tammy and I are exhausted, and we hope to get a good night’s sleep while Glenn Paul spends the night in the Nursery.
The photos have been updated with today’s wonderful events.
P.S. Yes, I am thrilled that Glenn Paul was born on the 53 anniversary of the opening of Disneyland

Tammy and I are at the hospital. We checked in at 9 p.m. last night (7/16/08). They started inducing labor this morning, and we are just waiting now. Tammy is at 4 cm dialated.

We had our second ultrasound and found out the sex of the baby. It’s a BOY! We could see him moving around and see the heart beating. Tammy had a feeling that it was going to be a boy, while Glenn thought it was going to be a girl. Once again, Tammy is right. We also heard the heartbeat during the doctor’s visit. Click here and here to see the pictures from the ultrasound. In the image titled “It’s a Boy” you can tell it’s a boy because there is something between the legs (where the arrow is). We are thrilled that everything is going well. We are planning to name him Glenn Paul Welch IV (and call him Glenn Paul).

It’s Christmas Eve, and we told both of our families today that we are pregnant again. Everyone was shocked and thrilled. It’s also the 13th anniversary of Glenn and Tammy’s marriage proposal.
